Tantso

My artworks are mainly realistic in nature, only a few veer towards abstraction. Over the years, my paintings reflect a bias towards certain subjects. My theme often gravitates towards anything that has something to do with water – the lake, the rushing waters, the sea and the shore.

Another favorite clearly reflects my former day-job as a teacher of horticulture: florals and foliage. The family garden has been a significant source of inspiration for compositions on flowers.

I have to see and imbibe the essence of the subject manifested in front of me to be able to translate my impression on canvas or paper. The subject matter has to move me, both literally and figuratively - whether this involves mundane objects like empty wine bottles and fruits or some scenery I encounter locally or abroad.
